Last Saturday, Dec. 7, the exhibition “Einstein Telescope: listening to the universe”<\/strong> opened in Nuoro, an event organized by the National Institute of Nuclear Physics (INFN) and the company Orientare Srl, in collaboration with the cultural association Rosas 1945 Eventi.<\/p>\n

After the success of the stop at the Castle of San Michele in Cagliari<\/a>, the exhibition moves to the inland Sardinian city, at the Municipal Multipurpose Center, Via Roma 64. The exhibition will be open to the public until Jan. 6, 2025, with free admission.<\/strong> <\/span><\/p>\n

An inauguration amid conferences and expert presentations<\/b><\/h3>\n

The opening ceremony was followed by a conference, moderated by journalist and writer Stefano Ferri. During the event, Fabio Rosas<\/strong>, co-founder of Rosas 1945 Events, welcomed the participants, while Giovanni Pirisi, Extraordinary Commissioner of the Municipality of Nuoro, introduced the conference. Remote guests also attended, including Roberto Ragazzoni<\/strong>, president of INAF, and Antonio Zoccoli<\/strong>, president of INFN. <\/span><\/p>\n

After the institutional greetings, the presentation of the exhibit was curated by Alessandro Cardini, director of the Cagliari INFN section, and Alessandro D’Ambrosio, director and vice president of Orientare Srl, who conceived the event. This was followed by speeches by Domenico D’Urso, scientific manager of Einstein Telescope Italia, Daniela Falconi, president of ANCI Sardegna and mayor of Fonni, and Mario Cal\u00eca, mayor of Lula. <\/p>\n

A journey to the heart of modern science and its future in Sardinia<\/b><\/h3>\n

The exhibition is divided into nine thematic areas<\/strong>, starting with Albert Einstein’s theory of general relativity, which revolutionized our approach to science. The tour then focuses on the discovery of gravitational waves, which marked the beginning of a new era in scientific research, making it possible to observe the universe through the vibrations of space-time. It is on gravitational waves that the Einstein Telescope project is based, a future detector that promises to provide new insights into dark matter and the universe itself. <\/p>\n

The heart of the exhibition is devoted to the Einstein Telescope<\/strong> and the possible site for its construction, in the area between Lula and Bitti, in the province of Nuoro. The exhibition also explores the technical and scientific challenges of building this massive infrastructure, with a special focus on Italy’s bid to host it at the Sos Enattos site and ongoing activities in the area. <\/p>\n

The exhibition “Einstein Telescope: listening to the universe” will be open until Jan. 6, 2025<\/strong>. During the holiday season, it will be possible to visit it with the following hours (except Dec. 25 and Jan. 1): <\/p>\n
